Look in your local newspaper under the classified ads section and the chances are that you will find at least a couple of upcoming auctions in your city. Once you have found one that you would like to attend , just go there the morning of the auction and get a bidding number at the front office. There is sometimes a refundable deposit of about $25. This is to insure that you clean out the storage unit completely .

At the beginning of every auction, the actioneer will give the bidders a preview of the locker. He will open the door to the locker and give you a few minute peak and then the auction will begin. Get a good view of what your bidding on and go buy your gut instinct when bidding. You almost always make aout well this way. Bringing a flashlight with you never is always a good idea . It will help you see stuff that others may not see, giving you the upper hand.

You can buy entire storage units for around $150-$400 or you can just buy box lots. A box lot is when they pull out several boxes of stuff and then have an auction for so much per box. So for example if you bid $10 and your bid is the highest bid, you will be able to take as many boxes home as you want for $10 each box. There has been a couple of times when I have bought boxes of stuff for $5 or $10 and have sold the stuff for $100 or $200 !
